English Quiz

We wanted to make our students English lovers and to help them to converser in English fluently. Hence, the English Medium staff along with Fr. Selva organized quiz competition for the students English Medium. All the students were given hundred simple and basic questions and answers that can be used in ordinary conversation. All the students were divided into small groups in their own classes and had quiz competition according to the class. And at the end, we selected seven outstanding students from all the classes and had the overall quiz competition...Click Here

Feast of St. John Bosco – Father & Teacher Of Youth

The feast of St. John Bosco, father and teacher of youth was held in our school on 31st January 2020. We were blessed to have Most Rev. Bp. Sounduraraju Perianayagam, SDB, D.D, a Salesian bishop as a chief guest to preside over the celebration and to share the dream and wish of Don Bosco to us. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Michael Viyagulam SDB, the guest of honour for the celebration. He was also the former headmaster of our school. The feast began with the cultural program in the morning. Our students staged an one act play on Don Bosco in English. The Bishop and the guests were amazed to see our children speaking in English fluently and acting well...

Visit of Friends of FR. Schlooz SDB

On 06th March 2020, the friends of Fr. Schlooz, Mr. Paul and Mr. Richard from Netherlands visited our community. They were accompanied by Rev. Fr. Arul Maran SDB, Director of Cauvery, Tiruchy. They came on an official visit to see the works that are being carried out in the house at Varadarajanpet. They contribute some amount to the old age people as a help which was actually begun by Fr. Revenue District Level Sports and Athletic Meet

Our school sports and athletic boys participated in different sports events held in September 2019 at Andimadam zonal level competitions and won the overall championship. They too participated in the Revenue District level sports and athletic meet and won the overall championship and were honoured with certificates of merit, medals and trophies. They are now preparing to take part in the State Level sports and athletic competitions. Pongal Celebration

Festival of thanksgiving, i.e., Pongal was celebrated by the Salesians along with the domestic staff on 15th January 2020. The celebration commenced with the actual cooking of Pongal in the morning, followed by Holy Mass, festive lunch and film in the afternoon. Anticipated Pongal celebration was also held in the school on 13 January. Debate was organized in the school on the theme, “Whose role is vital in shaping a better society? Parents - Teachers - Youth” to mark the celebration. Students and Staffs were divided into three groups and voiced their ideas vigorously in the public forum. Past Pupil Meet

On 17th November 2019, past pupil batch of 1972-1973 came together to the school campus to attend a day of meeting and sharing. There were 48 of them. Most of past pupils are well settled and are retired from jobs now but were happy about the formation they received at their early age. It was a wonderful sight to see some of the staff who taught these students, who are still alive, had also come for the meeting. It was nice reliving of their past memories. Fr. Medical Camp

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s special medical camp was organized in our school campus on 09th November 2019. It was planned and executed by the Don Bosco Past pupil unit of Varadarajanpet along with Andimadam unit General health-hygiene care department and Perambalur Dhanalakshmi Seenivasan medical college. They jointly came to plan and implement the programme. Christmas Celebration

Nativity of our Lord Jesus is a joyful event which brings joy and happiness to many. On 19th December 2019 we had the Suppose Christmas Celebration with our school students. The celebration was very meaningful and lively. Each class chose one or two poor students from their class and shared Christmas with them by giving them a gift. Sharing of gift with the one who deserves brought joy on both the sharer and the receiver. This is the real Christmas celebration. Provincial Visitation

The house had the Provincial Visitation on 22nd & 23rd October. Rev. Fr. Agilan Sarprasadam SDB, the Provincial In-charge made the canonical Provincial visitationof Varadarajanpet Salesian community. He met the Salesians, school staff, Salesian co-operators, past pupils, hostel students, oratory youth and interacted with all them. Science Exhibition

Science Exhibition was held on 14th October 2019, Mr. Alexander, past pupil of our School inaugurated the exhibition. Students showed great interest to prepare and display their experiments. The budding scientists came up with creative science experiments and exhibited them for the view of the students. The original experiments were recognized, prizes and certificates were given to them. One of the great and memorable days of celebration in the annals of our school is the 55th Annual Day celebration held on 30th August 2019. It not only helped the students recall the growth of the school but also to wonder at its achievements in the field of education and the upliftment of the people of Varadhai. PTA Meeting

The second Parents Teachers Association Meeting of our school was held on 05th October 2019. Fr. Francis SDB, Rector and Correspondent, Fr. Sebastian Jacob SDB, Head Master, PTA President, PTA Council members, Parents and Students participated in the meeting. Nearly a thousand and five hundred parents turned up for the meeting. At the outset condolences and prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of Fr. Anthony Joseph, Provincial of Tiruchy Province who died on 11th September at Tiruchy. Noon Meal Building

Our School is one of the prestigious, student friendly and well structured places to learn and study. The management wanted to provide a best place for the poor kids to eat. Hence, on 03rd October 2019, in the presence of Fr. Amaladoss, Economer of Tiruchy Province blessed and opened the newly built noon-meal building of the school. It was constructed with the purpose of having a place for the students to sit comfortably and eat their meals in the afternoon especially during the rainy season. The school staff, students, Salesians and the PTA council members were present for blessing of the building. Seminar on New Education Policy 2019

This year one of the special inter-school animation for the teachers and managements of the locality was held on 29th July 2019 in our campus. The animation was to disseminate the Indian Government’s “New Education Policy 2019”. Mr. Benjamin Elango, former professor at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchy had come to explain the nuances, implications and after effects of the new education policy 2019. Every school and every teacher aims to get 100% results in the Governments examination and getting 100% is an achievement of the teacher and school for the one year of hard work. Our school reached that milestone and achieved receiving 100% in 10th and 12th standard Government Examination. Uniforms to Poor Students

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed,” says Maya Angelou. Past pupils of our school have a rich tradition of helping the poor students to come school in uniform and neatly dressed. Hence, every year, at the beginning of the academic year, they select the poor students and give them one set of uniform and partake in the joy of those little kids. Their support is praiseworthy. This year, they did their act of charity on 05th July 2019. It was done in front of the school children to cultivate the same spirit of helping and finding joy in serving the poor. Talent Show

Roy T. Bennett in his book The Light in the Heart says, “You are unique. You have different talents and abilities. You don’t have to always follow in the footsteps of others. And most important, you should always remind yourself that you don't have to do what everyone else is doing and have a responsibility to develop the talents you have been given.” The School has two great responsibilities. Having literary clubs in the school encourages the children to develop a taste for their own mother tongue and to love other languages. Annual Feast of Mary Help of Christians – Patroness of our School

One of the illustrious practices of our School is to thank Mary Help of Christians, the patroness and protector of our institution at the beginning of the year and to place the institution, the students and staff members and all the activities that we carry out in the academic year at the protective hand of Mary, Mother of God. Annual Sports Day 2019-20

Mike Singletary says, “Do you know what my favourite part of the game is? The opportunity to play.” Sports day is one of the events that gives lots of opportunities to lots of students to run, jump and play. Our school Annual sports day, a day that brings the talents of students to the heights was celebrated on two days. On the first day, i.e., on 27th June, we conducted most of competitions and selected the finalists. The second, i.e., the actual sports day was held on the next day, i.e., 28th June 2019. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School at Varadarajanpet had its inauguration of the academic year 2019 – 2020 on 3 rd June.
